(3 DVD set in exclusive wooden box)
The DVD set named U INAT VEKOVIMA ("In Spite of Centuries") was made in cooperation with the production firm SIRMIUM FILM.
The Srem region is a very important area for exploring the cultural heritage of Serbs living north of Sava and Danube rivers. The earliest and most frequent changes happened here, starting from the first movements of Serbian people from the old Raska region during the reign of the "Srem's King" Dragutin in the Middle Ages, to the 19th century. Immediately after the fall of the Serbian state in 1459, Srem becomes the meeting place of Serbian feudal emigration.
It is well-known that right here, in Srem, the last Serbian rulers, among the spacious estates, had their capital cities and palaces. At the same time, in the forests of Mt. Fruska Gora, they founded first monasteries on this ground (Krusedol, Hopovo, Velika and Mala Remeta, Grgeteg, Vrdnik, Sisatovac, Besenovo, Fenek, Kuvezdin, Divsa, Privina glava...)
Each one of these monasteries became a nucleus around which the Serbs of this region gathered, after moving out of Serbia between 15th and 19th centuries. The series consists of nineteen 15-minute-long episodes, each episode dedicated to a different monastery. Besides this, a documentary film (53 min) was made to join these stories in a broader perspective. The producer of this film is Goran "Gonzo" Lukic.
The spiritual atmosphere of the oldest Orthodox temples, which cannot deteriorate over time, is depicted with image, music and excellent narration. The film features interviews with monks, abbots, as well as Protojerej Milorad Golijan. The documentary series "U inat vekovima" was made after the book "Fruskogorska Sveta Gora" ("Mt. Fruska Gora's Holy Mount") by Dr. Zeljko Fajfric, with the blessing of Srem Eparchy and Srem's Vladika Mr. Vasilije. The episodes were recorded and arranged digitally.
