I am a huge fan of Milorad Pavic and this latest novel, while not my favorite of his work was still good. Unique Item has 3 parts, there is the story, then there is an analysis of the dreams in the story and then there are the endings.

The story itself I thought was excellent and shows Pavic hasn't lost his touch. Its kind of short but still enjoyable.

This is followed by a police report analyzing some dreams from the story. This is interesting but I would have rather had the story be longer, instead.

Last are the endings. I cheated and read them all, but to be honest it isn't worth it. The endings are all a part of the book of a policeman trying to solve the case in the story. However since we the readers, know what happened its mostly a recap of sorts and so while some of the endings are interesting most are a little redundant.

All in all I felt that this book was too short, but still good.
